EXAM AND ASSESSMENT RESULTS

We are very proud of our students in cohort 7 and the final A level and BTEC results  that they have achieved o 2024.  Here are the headlines of this year's outstanding results at Ada:

  • 100% of students who studied the BTEC National Diploma in Computing passed their 2-year course
  • 79% of our students achieved at least one Distinction in Computer Science.
  • A fifth (21%) of students achieved their highest grades possible
  • A third (32%) of the students achieved A*-A in Maths.
  • 80% of students have secured their first University choice.
  • 28% of students are going to Russell Group Universities 
  • ...And many more are progressing to exciting Apprenticeships including with Just Eat, Siemens and 59A.

 

Despite the challenges of moving campus from year 12 to year 13, the students have shown resilience and dedication and this is reflected in their outcomes and progression.

 

Computer Science BTEC results are excellent with 46% of students achieving at least one Distinction Star (D*) in their final grades, and 79% at least 1 Distinction (D). 95% achieved Merits and above. The Extended Diploma students all achieved high grades (Merits and Distinctions). This year, a  fifth (21%) of the cohort achieved the highest grades possible (D*D* in the Diploma or D*D*D* in the Extended Diploma). According to the report “GCE Level 3 UK press notice – Summer 2024” released by JCQ (16.8.24) of the 217,600 Applied general (BTEC) qualification results that were issued today, 22,100 (10%)  achieved “top grades”, whereas over twice as many Ada BTEC Computing students receive top grades.CS grades have been continuing on a positive trajectory since 2019.

 

Overall, A level results were up from 2023 and, importantly, up from 2019 and so higher than pre-COVID levels.  A level subjects achieved 17% A*-A, 41% A*-B and 64% A*- C grades.  A particular highlight is Maths, with a third (32%) of the students achieving A*-A, 15% in Further Maths and a third  (33%) of the students in Maths studies (Core Maths). Further Maths students achieved 100% A*-C grades. In Graphics 89% of students achieved A*-C grades.

 

In terms of next steps, 80% of students were placed on their university choice, 72% on their first choice, a fifth  of those to  Russell group universities, including Queen Mary University London, Nottingham University, University of York  and Warwick University. Other universities that students are going to include: Lancaster University, City University of London, Nottingham Trent University, University of Greenwich, University of Hertfordshire, Middlesex University, University of Westminster,  University of Surrey, University of Brighton, University of East Anglia and Brunel.

 

The courses they will be studying include: Computer Science, Cyber Security, Computer Science with Games Technology, Content Creation, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, Computer Games Design & Programming, Computer Networks and Security, Advertising and Digital Marketing, Business Computing and Data Analytics, Computer Games Development.

 

Furthermore, some of our students are progressing to a range of exciting Apprenticeships including JustEat, 59A,  Siemens and MBDA.  Just like last year, many students are still very keen to secure an Apprenticeship and we will continue to work with them and support them.
