Freelance PR and Communications Manager

1 Day/Week, £175/day

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed freelance PR and Communications Manager to manage communications and stakeholder opportunities and engagement to help us deliver key outcomes. You’ll write content, create communication plans and lead on national and local PR to raise awareness of our work, enhance and protect our reputation, make key stakeholder groups aware of the programmes we offer and support our fundraising work. You will need to be authentic and confident working with a range of stakeholder groups. You’ll champion consistency in all our communications and help us deliver our message with clarity. Key tasks

• Identifying positive media opportunities and working with the Head of External Relations and CEO to create an overarching media strategy 

• Creating press materials for launches, announcements, events, etc. 

• Developing and maintaining relationships with key journalists, bloggers and influencers 

• Identifying media risks 

• Monitoring and responding to reactive news opportunities and journalist enquiries 

• Working closely with digital marketing to ensure the best use of web and social media 

• Working with the team to find opportunities and proactively pitch stories to promote Ada 

• Working with the PR / comms departments of partners to create media opportunities and then planning and delivering joint campaigns 

• Helping to identify awards that Ada can enter and creating compelling submissions with the assistance of SLT and other team members 

 Person specification and experience Essential:

• Capable and confident 

• Good understanding of broad range of media and communication skills 

• Evidence of devising and successful delivery of PR/Comms campaign strategies, plans and activity with clear targets/goals 

• Awareness of the range of media tools available to create coverage and appropriate for specific audiences 

• Evidence of having built and nurtured own relevant media relationships 

• Flexibility–capable of delivering more than one task at a time and able to prioritise


• Skill in editing and proofreading and generally consistent and high standards of attention to detail 

• Excellent and adaptable written English and oral skills 

• Excellent team-working / cross team collaboration skills

• Excellent organisational skills

• Excellent time management skills

• Ability to prioritise workload 

• Ability to self-manage and work unsupported Desirable:

• An interest in analytics / reporting 

• An interest in education, technology, or apprenticeships

 • Journalistic/blogging experience and/or a passion for writing – please include links to any relevant, previously published written work with your covering letter
